Dr. Wendy Asato is a seasoned veterinarian with over two decades of experience in small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and holistic care. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.
Based in Kailua, Hawaii, Dr. Asato currently practices at Makai Pet Hospital, where she combines traditional veterinary medicine with integrative approaches, including Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, food therapy, and veterinary ozone and aromatherapy. Her unique approach focuses on treating the whole animal and promoting long-term wellness.
Before joining Makai Pet Hospital, Dr. Asato co-owned and practiced at Makai Animal Clinic for over a decade. She also previously worked at University Pet Clinic/VCA in Honolulu and at Castro Valley Companion Animal Hospital in California. Her diverse background reflects a lifelong dedication to compassionate, comprehensive pet care.
